Spelling Sorts
These activities allow you to sort words utilizing the multiple spellings of a particular phoneme. Most of these are single syllable words. I use these boards to play "Steal It", a game that allows the students to read novel words in a low stress environment with multiple repetitions. To reveal the word, drag the card off of the top of the deck.
Spelling Sort
For this spelling I show the organization so the student is more apt to see the patterns. The -el is used more after consonants that are not stops. The -le is more common after stop consonants. This organization does not lend itself to the Steal-it game.
